Two of three third graders in Nashville are not reading on grade level according to Blueprint for Early Childhood Success. The Junior League of Nashville (JLN) continues to dedicate its resources to combat the obstacles to childhood literacy and provide access to educational resources for families in the Greater Nashville area.
JLN’s All Booked Up partnered on Tuesday, November 5 with Haywood Elementary to deliver 300 books to Kindergarten through 5th grade children. All Booked Up will partner with PENCIL Foundation to host a larger event at Tusculum Elementary targeted at 400 children on February 29, 2020. This event will engage children through literacy workshops, imagination stations, character meet-and-greets, and read alouds. Children who attend the event will receive a free bag to fill with books to add to or start their very own library.
