Members in Motion: JLN’s League-Wide Day of Service

posted on

Volunteers contributed more than 300 service hours to the Middle Tennessee community in a single day!

Members in Motion is a League-wide day of service for all JLN members to unite and give back to our community. It is an example of the impact that women who are committed to volunteerism and improving their community can make in a single day. On March 5, 2022, more than 100 League members volunteered across Middle Tennessee, serving local agencies including Bonaparte’s Retreat, Book’em, Centerstone, Cheekwood,  Diaper Connection of Nashville, Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt, There with Care and Percy Warner Park. An additional 67 members participated in two remote volunteer opportunities with Children’s Hospital, writing inspirational letters to healthcare workers to thank them for their tireless work during the pandemic and preparing activity kits to help entertain hospitalized children.

Together, League members:

  • Labeled and packed 2,000 books for Book’em,
  • Wrapped 800 diapers to serve 160 babies with Diaper Wrap,
  • Composed 95 cards for patients at Good Samaritan Health and Rehab Center (including 36 specifically thanking patients who are Veterans),
  • Prepped prepped potatoes, asparagus and sausage for a meal serving several of the Nashville Food Project’s partner agencies,
  • Sorted medical supplies for Project Cure,
  • Organized the kennel and play yard at Bonaparte’s Retreat,
  • Gardened at Cheekwood and cleaned Percy Warner Park,
  • Wrote 533 thank you notes for healthcare workers at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt,
  • Created 416 craft activity kits for pediatric patients at Children’s Hospital,
  • And more!
