In 2008-2009, the Junior League of Nashville (JLN) joined more than 225 other Junior Leagues across the country to host Kids in the Kitchen as a way to facilitate positive change in our community and promote family health and nutrition.
JLN’s annual Kids in the Kitchen event is a free, family-friendly outing for kids, encouraging healthy lifestyles choices with hands-on activities led by our volunteers, local chefs and local health professionals.
Kids in the Kitchen addresses a growing problem of increased children’s risks for health problems such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
Our volunteers and partners provide cooking and fitness demonstrations, teaching children how to make healthy choices in a fun, engaging way. Each participant receives a goody bag filled with fun items to help them implement what they learn at Kids in the Kitchen.
