In an effort to facilitate positive change in our community and promote family health and nutrition, the Junior League of Nashville (JLN) joined more than 225 other Junior Leagues across the country to host Kids in the Kitchen events. The program, implemented by the Association of Junior Leagues International, was designed to create an impact in our community around the issues of childhood obesity and poor nutrition.
For the past eight years JLN has hosted an annual Kids in the Kitchen event. Kids in the Kitchen is a free, family-friendly outing for kids, encouraging healthy foods and exercise by providing hands on activities with our volunteers, local chefs and other local health professionals.
Our volunteers have hosted this health fair-style event for families designed to help combat childhood obesity and poor nutrition. Kids in the Kitchen focuses on creating awareness and educating families to make healthy lifestyle choices. Our volunteers and partners provide cooking and exercise demonstrations, teaching children how to make healthy choices in a fun, engaging way. Each participant receives a goody bag filled with fun items to help them implement what they learn at Kids in the Kitchen.
