Kids in the Kitchen

The Junior League of Nashville’s annual Kids in the Kitchen is a free, family-friendly outing for kids encouraging healthy foods and exercise by providing hands on activities with our volunteers, local chefs and other local health professionals.

In our 2015-2016 year, Kids in the Kitchen created a new partnership with Rocketship Education and held two events at both of their Nashville schools. These events created opportunities for children in the Donelson and Murfreesboro Pike areas to make their way through eight stations to hear about healthy meal plans, dental health, healthy beverages, safe medication use, exercise and more while their parents enjoyed a cooking demonstration.

With over 110 children and 50 parents served last year, we are continuing this partnership into JLN’s 2016-2017 year to spread knowledge and provide tools to cook a healthy meal at home, oral care kits, and healthy snacks for home.
